A bucket would have given the Jazz a potential 6 or 7 point lead with around 1:30 remaining. Utah had the ball up 4 with around 2:00 minutes left in the 4th Quarter. It was one of the strangest sequences you will most likely see in this years NBA Playoffs. Jokic looked a bit too comfortable, so it's going to be interesting to see if Gobert can turn the defensive pressure up a couple notches for Game 2. Although Gobert put up a nice game in the Box Score (17 points and 7 rebounds) I still would like him to be more of a force in crunch time. ![]() The Nuggets big man did a great job of setting the tone and would finish the game with 29 points and 10 rebounds while shooting 52.4% from the floor and 57.1% from 3. Jokic was fantastic from the start in this one and often went right at Rudy Gobert. Mitchell became the youngest player to score 50+ points in a playoff game since Michael Jordan dropped 63 against the Celtics in 1986.Īlthough both Jamal Murray and Donovan Mitchell were sensational in Game 1, this is the matchup to pay attention to throughout the series. Mitchell would also shoot 19/33 from the field (57.6%) as well as 6/15 from downtown (40%). In 43 minutes of action, the Jazz star guard finished with 57 points, 9 rebounds, and 7 assists. Mitchell was a one man wrecking crew, slicing and dicing the Nuggets defense and getting whatever shot he wanted. It didn't take long before Mitchell got hot and he was on absolute fire throughout the game. Utah came into this showdown a bit short handed and they were going to need a big performance from Donovan Mitchell or Rudy Gobert to have a chance in this one. If you missed this one, I highly recommend you find yourself a comfortable couch and stream Game 1 over again.because it was worth it.
